Pain as a driver of myocardial injury in hip fracture patients: a HIP fracture Accelerated surgical TreaTment And Care track (HIP ATTACK) Trial secondary analysis

3 weeks 4 days ago
CONCLUSION: Increased pain may be associated with myocardial ischemic events in the perioperative period in hip fracture patients. Future research is needed to confirm and further clarify this relationship, and to determine whether analgesic interventions can reduce the risk of perioperative myocardial ischemia.

Improving a photosynthetic bioprocess with a ubiquitous additive: Using clay powder in the cultivation of Rhodopseudomonas palustris

3 weeks 5 days ago
A key challenge in process optimization is reactor performance, particularly in light-dependent bioprocesses. While novel photobioreactor designs exist, adapting established bioreactors with simple media supplementation may provide a more practical and modular alternative to complex mechanical modifications. In this study, we evaluated the effect of supplementing 0.2 % (w/v) clay powder on acetate production by Rhodopseudomonas palustris grown on butyrate. Among the clay types tested, kaolin...

Automating quantum computing laboratory experiments with an agent-based AI framework

3 weeks 5 days ago
Fully automated self-driving laboratories promise high-throughput, large-scale scientific discovery by reducing repetitive labor. However, they require deep integration of laboratory knowledge, which is often unstructured, multimodal, and hard to incorporate into current AI systems. This paper introduces the "k-agents" framework, designed to support experimentalists in organizing laboratory knowledge and automating experiments with agents. The framework uses large-language-model-based agents to...
